Happy Mother's Day ♥

Hello everyone, it's quite a lovely day here in England which is perfect as it's Mother's day! As my mum's birthday was about two weeks ago, I didn't want to just buy her another present because I'd already got her what she wanted for her birthday. So, instead, I put all my heart into baking a lovely cake :)

I used a cake mix as a base from Betty Crocker. I chose the Devil's Food Cake Mix as my mum absolutely loves chocolate. There's chocolate fudge icing through the middle as well as round the outside. I piped some white icing around the top as a sort of border, then covered the top with white chocolate and milk chocolate buttons, white choco chips and marshmallows! It's a heart attack on a plate but tastes absolutely heavenly!

What did you do for Mother's day?

Computer Problems

I do apologise for not updating very frequently lately. In a previous post I mentioned that I ordered a laptop, however, I actually cancelled that order and bought a desktop for my abandoned, old, dust-covered Apple Mac Mini. I figured that buying a desktop would be easier for me because A) It was much cheaper than a laptop and B) Why not use a Mac if you already have one?
Using the mac was fine at first, I changed the theme, added my most visited websites to my favourites in Safari, even wrote a blog post or two but I soon realised that buying the desktop and using the mac again was a complete mistake. Here's why:

-- I can't install my Canon DSLR software because the Mac Mini is so outdated --
-- I can't install Sims 3 (My favourite game...) because it is so outdated --
-- I can't install RPG Maker because (you guessed it..) it's outdated --
-- I can't even UPDATE the Mac Mini because it is SOOO OUTDATED!! --
As much as I would love to have a Mac right now, I can't not have these things in my life especially the Canon software.
I have decided that the best thing to do is to sell the Mac system as a bundle and put the money towards a laptop... (Yes, I do regret cancelling the order in the first place -____- ).
If I don't update often it is because, yet again, me and my mother are sharing a laptop which she takes to work everyday..
Aaaaannnnnnywaaaayyy........
On a lighter, less "ranty" note, I was walking home earlier today and a cute little tabby cat followed me almost all the way.

I, honestly, started to feel bad because the more it followed the more lost it looked.

I'll see when I can update next,
chow

It's Spring!

Hello there and happy first day of spring! I don't know about you but I can't stand winter and to have the Google home page remind me that spring is here just fills me with joy. Here in Britain, the weather has been good as gold, excluding today when it rained (British weather really isn't reliable).

I went for a stroll the other day and the sun quite low and I happened to have my camera on me so took a few snaps.

It was that perfect point of the evening when the air is lovely and mild and there is a cool, refreshing light breeze. I think it was the first day this year that I wore a dress!

What's the weather like where you are?

Recent Beauty Buys

Working in the middle of a town centre is great in some ways, but it really takes it's toll on my bank account. I can't resist popping in to Boots or Superdrug to just 'have a look' though I always wind up buying something. Recently, i've started looking in Superdrug more because they have a couple more cheaper end make-up brands compared to boots, like Sleek for example (which I've heard is really good value for money). Here's a few things i have bought over the past week or so.

(Left to right: Sleek 'Au Naturel' Palette, Seventeen lip lustre, Boots Eyelash curler, Eyelashes from Japan, Superdrug tweezers, Sleek 'Face Form' Palette in Medium, Soap & Glory Body Wash)

I bought this palette after reading one of Zoella's blog posts about the Sleek 'Storm' palette. I originally went into Superdrug for that palette but i spotted the 'Au Naturel' palette and loved it! I'm really into nude and brown eyeshadow at the moment and the mixture of matte and shimmer eyeshadows in this palette is perfect!

I've recently decided that i am going to buy more lipglosses as i, literally, have none (excluding a crappy one i got free with a Wilkinson Sword razor). This lipgloss is from Seventeen in 'Hotting Up'. It's a very natural coral/pink colour and has the perfect shine.

I love these eyelashes. They're from Japan though i have no idea what brand they are. I buy these ones in particular because 1. They're cheap and 2. They're such good quality! On eBay, it's under £7 for six pairs and they come with an amazing glue!

I  really struggle when it comes to bronzers as most of the Boots make-up brands only have bronzers for light or light/medium skin which look strange on my medium/ tanned/ dark-ish skin. Recently, however i ventured in to the world of Superdrug and found Sleek's 'Face Form' palette. The medium colour is perfect for my skin tone and i would highly recommend it if you have slightly darker skin.

I never really buy anything from Soap & Glory but Zoella's favourites video on Youtube really sold it to me. This 'Rich & Foamous' body wash feels gorgeously soft and, like Zoe says in her video, it smells amazing!

My old tweezers are so bad, they don't grip any hairs whatsoever.. I new i needed a new pair and these tweezers from Superdrug are cheap and good quality. The curlers are from boots and are the cheapest pair i could find, though they're still really good quality!

I know this isn't really relevant but it's my mum's 49th birthday today!
Happy Birthday Mum! Next up is the big 50!

Thanks for reading. What shall i post next?

Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner Review!

After hearing rave reviews about this eyeliner, I, finally, hopped on the band wagon and bought it. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if you haven't heard of the brand Dolly Wink as it's a Japanese make-up brand produced by Tsubasa Masuwaka, a famous Japanese magazine model. However, because of my unhealthy obsession with anything Japanese, I know quite a lot about make-up brands in Japan and the Dolly Wink black liquid eyeliner seems to be one of the most popular.

Now, onto the actual eyeliner:

(the packaging is just too cute!)

I love the packaging for this product. The updated packaging for Dolly Wink is more.... girly? I'm not sure if that's the right word but there are more flowers than before (I preferred the bows, personally).

As you can see, the nib is extremely thin, perfect for fine-lining!

For a test, I marked my hand with the eyeliner. It's really easy to use and, although the eyeliner is quite watery, it's pretty opaque and dries very quickly. The picture above shows the eyeliner after it's just been applied....

.... and, after rubbing it really hard with my hand, hardly any difference! It's passed the smear test!

I also wanted to test how it would cope with water. I must have held my hand under the tap for a good 20 seconds and nothing happened. Only after, when I scrubbed my hand with a towel, it started to smudge, but I still think that's pretty good!

So you can see what it looks like on:

I am writing this at ten minutes to midnight, I applied this eyeliner at about 11 this morning and it still looks like the picture; neat and smudge free!

I love this eyeliner and think everyone should have it! I bought mine on eBay for about £10 or £11 which is the cheapest I could find it.

Thank you for reading,

Recent Beauty Favourites!

It's a beautiful day today! I was going to go for a stroll and take some photos of the clear blue sky but I'd already prepared for a beauty favourites post! Maybe sunny day photos another day.. if the sun actually decides to come back out.

I've been using these products sooo much recently. Some I've had for months and others I've just recently bought but all of them have been added to my daily beauty routine.

I only bought this Simple Oil Balancing Moisturiser a week or two ago but I feel like, after daily use, it's really helping me with my skin. I have horribly oily skin, even on cold days, and this really sucks up the excess oil before I apply my make-up. It does keep my face fairly oil-free for a few hours but I am yet to find a product that really keeps the oil away.

I brought this MAC Prep + Prime Translucent Powder to, also, help me with my oily skin. I love how this gives a matte airbrushed sort of look. It doesn't leave a white residue on the skin unlike some other translucent powders I have tried. This, combined with the Simple Oil Balancing Moisturiser, helps a lot to keep me from having shiny, greasy feeling skin but, like I said, I am yet to find a product that really helps with oily skin. If anyone could recommend a product I would appreciate that greatly!

Moving on from skin to lips. Lately, lip balms have been my saviour! Bitterly cold weather really takes its toll on my lips and they become chapped almost instantly so lip balms are essential. Vaseline is one of the main products I use on my lips as it moisturises without being sticky. I especially love the "Paint the Town" Vaseline as it leaves my lips moisturised with a subtle red tint to them.

As for scents, I have really been into Impulse body sprays and, as you can see, I have quite a few. I can't really say which is my favourite because I use a different one everyday. The perfume is Britney Spears Fantasy and I absolutely love it! I find that the scent really lasts (I can still smell on my clothes at the end of the day) which I don't find with a lot of perfumes.

For a non-beauty favourite, I would like to show you my Yankee Candle Electric Tart Burner! All you do is place a wax tart into the burner, plug it in and....

...Voila!
It releases the scent as it melts. Once its completely melted it can "burn" for up to eight hours. I've haven't yet managed to use up a whole wax tart yet though, I keep swapping them to match my mood. The green tart in the picture is called "Pineapple Cilantro". I have about 15 tarts so far and my collection is building!

Thank you for reading, I hope it wasn't too long of a post :)

What are your recent beauty favourites?

LOTD!

Helloooo everybody!

I mentioned in my previous post that I was going to do an outfit of the day and here it is! Well... kinda... I'm going to show you my make-up too so this is more like a .. "Look" of the day, hence the title. To start off, I'm just going to say that about 90% of the clothes I own are from River Island, so, if I don't write where an item of clothing is from, just assume my clothes are from there.

I love this outfit because it's so comfortable and easy to wear! The leopard print top is an oversized fit but I wear it more tucked into some jeans, I think it looks more interesting than just having it un-tucked.

These shoes ... You either love them or you hate them! I, obviously, love them! Lately, I have really been attracted to chunky platform shoes. I am pretty tall compared to your average female so I really shouldn't where platform shoes and boots but I just can't resist! The gold clips on these shoes, however, never stayed clipped so I had to super glue them together and just use the zip on the heel :') Bit of DIY never hurt anyone ay?

I have done this make-up look pretty much everyday recently. I just apply the base (foundation, concealer, powder) then add the slightest bit of red/pink blusher on my cheeks. My eyebrows are routine (I hate not filling my eyebrows in!) so after those I sweep a tiny bit of bronze eyeshadow across my lids, apply eyeliner (I use a gel eyeliner) and finish the look off with mascara. I really like this look and it suits every outfit! Also, I either use a lip balm or a lipstick depending on my mood :)

I hope you liked this LOTD! I will do more of these soon.
And, like I said in my previous post, I have many ideas for upcoming posts so I look forward to sharing them with you! To see this post off:

A Selfieeee

Will post again soon!

Finally!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I have ordered a laptop! I will finally be able to keep up with posts as I will have it all to myself! It should come by Friday so, in the mean time, I'll be doing a couple of posts using my phone (hence the crappy quality selfie above...). However, this may not seem like a big deal but, on the blogger app you can't move all the text to the centre as in all my previous posts which is very frustrating... Don't be surprised if this post gets edited in a few days .. it's gotta be consistent! ;)

Oh yeah! I have a little notepad that I am jotting down all my blog ideas in because I am a pretty forgetful person and this blog is something that I am planning to stick to! I have already taken some photos of my outfit today so expect an OOTD very soon!

Anyway, as I'm writing this outside, in the rain, in the cold, on my phone ( that's dedication for you!) I better go, my fingers are pretty numb right now XD

I'll update soon!

Update and Room Decor!

Hello everyone!*ignore the absence of make-up*
I know I say this every time but I'm sorry for the lack of posts. I'm not going to make any excuses apart from say I've been super busy and haven't had a chance to get on the laptop (Honest! One laptop for a whole household is chaos..).

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that I got a new job (wrote an essay about it more like!). It's going really well and I am getting along great with the other workers. I actually only got a Christmas temp job at first but they kept me on and put me on a permanent contract!

Also, it's been a while since me and my mum moved into this new house and I haven't really had the chance to really do anything with my room. It was disgusting at first... like horrible. Green patterned wallpaper on the walls, matching stained green carpet, matching green flowery curtains... like a nightmare. I am, gradually, sorting it though; I have painted the walls, bought a couple of nice furniture pieces and am planning on buying a nice, clean ivory carpet next time I get paid.
The first furniture piece I bought was from the Toulouse collection at Dunelm:

*nice socks..*
I love the vintage, French boutique style and already knew I wanted my room this style so this furniture piece is perfect! It's just full of clothes, nothing that interesting really.
The second piece I only bought yesterday:

Of course it had to match! I love this piece, it's really starting to bring the room together! I use this chest of drawers to hold all my beauty essentials/ toiletries although I did have to do a bit of spring cleaning and chuck a load away... I'm a beauty product hoarder I swear -__-...
The top drawer contains most of my make-up and I am going to show you an easy way to organise your make-up drawer (Or any draw for that matter!)

Boxes! If you have any boxes lying around, take the top and bottom, shove them in the drawer and start filling them with all your beauty delights! I do need a couple more boxes for foundations and lipglosses but I'm sure you can pick things like this up at any pound shop!
Also, in the bottom right corner I have stored my mascaras and eyeliners in an old cotton bud holder. I knew I would benefit from collecting boxes and containers one day.
On the top of the drawers I store my jewellery, lipsticks, make-up brushes and cotton buds:

The jewellery stands and patterned holders are from Dunelm, the lipstick stand is from eBay.
I really like how my room is coming along, I just realllllly need to get rid of the green carpet *eurrghh*

And finally, to see this post out:

A selfie :)

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and I do actually have more future posts planned so (when I can get hold of the laptop again...) I'll post them!

See you soon!
